Palm Beach is at the top of the peninsula and the homes here reflect that. Some of the most well-maintained properties on the Northern Beaches, many of them holiday homes that need to be ready when the owners arrive and sorted quietly when they're not there.
The expectation in Palm Beach is that trades come prepared, work to a high standard, and don't need to be followed up. That's not a premium service level. That should be the baseline. It's how I work on every job regardless of the suburb, but Palm Beach homeowners tend to recognise it quickly when they see it.
Holiday homes create a specific set of plumbing problems. A property that sits empty for months at a time can develop issues that go unnoticed: slow leaks behind walls, hot water systems that haven't been run properly, drainage that's been sitting stagnant. I'm often called in when owners arrive and find something that's been quietly going wrong since their last visit.
The homes themselves are often older, particularly the original Palm Beach cottages and the mid-century builds along the waterfront. These properties have character and their owners care about preserving it. I work carefully in these homes. I don't take shortcuts that might resolve the immediate issue but create a problem somewhere else.
For newer Palm Beach builds and major renovations, I do full plumbing installations and work with builders and architects from the planning stage. Getting the plumbing right in a high-spec build requires thinking ahead, not reacting to problems as they come up on site.
I've been plumbing on the Northern Beaches for 16 years. I don't take on work I'm going to do poorly, and I don't pad scope to increase a bill. The quote reflects what the job actually requires.
If something unexpected comes up once the job is underway, I call before I proceed. You won't open an invoice and find work you didn't know was being done.
